Hork

Hork is a young aspirant to the ranks of the Knights Postaller who delivers messages and packages and is employed by the courier's outpost in K'reff. A moody, melancholic young man who wears the mask of a Tortoise, he is obsessed with becoming a knight. He has not yet seen his fifteenth winter, and yet has already memorized the main bulk of the mnemonic canon required to become a Knight, as a squire to Dame Laurian, who delivers messages across the greater Silverheight area. Unfortunately, he has twice been rejected by the Steward of the Silverheight postal tower, on account of his missing leg, which was amputated due to a childhood illness. He uses a cane, and compensates for his disability with the help of his flydragon, but this is not enough for the Steward, who says that a Knight must be physically as well as mentally fit for his responsibilities. Dame Laurian, for her part, believes in her protege and searches for a suitable prosthesis that would allow him to fully achieve the status of Knight.
